The History of Travel of the United States

The history of the United States is a story of peope on the move. The native Americans came to North America many thousands of years ago. Some of them built villages and stayed there, but many moved from place to place. They followed the buffalo and lived in tents.

The first travelers from Europe came to live in an unknown, land. At first, they stayed near the coast, but then a few brave men went west, far into the country. Two of them were Meriwether Lewis and William Clarck. In 1804, they started on their long jouney from St Louis, Missouri River west, went across the Rocky Mountains, and followed the Columbia River to the Pacific Ocean. Then, they turned around, and traveled back to St Louis. It was a great journey.

During the next 150 years, millions of poor people came from the old cities of Europe. They built the new cities of the US, and farmed the land. But they did not always stay in their new cities, or on their farms. Many people moved on, deeper and deeper into the new land.

A história dos Estados Unidos é uma história de pessoas em contantes processo de movimento interno. Os índios Américanos vinheram para a América do Norte a muitos milhares de anos atrás. Alguns deles construíram vilas e ficaram por lá, mas muitos mudavam-se constatemente de um lugar para outro. Eles seguiam os búfalos e moravam em cabanas.

Os primeiros viajantes vindos da Europa vinheram morar em uma terra, desconhecida. A príncipio eles ficaram perto da costa, mas então, alguns homens corajosos foram para o oeste, bem para dentro do país. Dois deles eram Meriwether Lewis e William Clarck. Em 1804, eles começaram sua longa jornada do St Louis, no Missouri, atravessando as Montanhas Rocky e seguiramo Rio Columbia até o Oceano Pacífico. Eles voltaram para tráz e retornaram pro St Louis. Foi uma longa jornada.

Durante os 150 anos seguintes, milhões de pessoas pobres vinheram das cidades antigas da Europa. Eles construíram as novas cidades dos EU e colonizaram a terra. Mas eles nem sempre ficavam em suas novas cidades ou em suas fazendas. Muitas pessoas continuavam a se mudar cada vez mais para o interior da nova terra, (os Estados Unidos da América).
